Summary: A date at the swimming pool was always worth it if it included a shirtless Ludwig.
Notes: written on a lazy afternoon at the seaside, originally meant for the prompt "swim" on fanfic_bakeoff, it then became too long for it ;; Also, not proof-read since I was basically too lazy to properly search for a beta =A=

“I don't see your brother around, today.”
There was a slight hint of worry, in the man's voice. “Is he well?”
It wasn't the health of her brother that concerned him, Felicia knew that. It was more that, when her brother was in sight, so were his glaring, murderous eyes. If you couldn't see him, this didn't mean he wasn't there, though – hidden, and probably holding some kind of weapon.
Felicia laughed.
“He's gone away for a few hours, fishing with some friends.”
“And he left you here?”
She shrugged. “He was persuaded I had something better to do.” Periods were a good excuse for most of a girl's actions – or so Felicia thought.
The man sitting in front of her relaxed slightly. It was funny to think that Lovino could make so nervous someone who was much taller than him and with shoulders twice as broad as his were.
“Were you worried for him?” she asked, teasingly.
Ludwig's blond eyebrows furrowed.
“Your brother doesn't like me... very much.”
“He hates you, yeah.”
More or less from the very moment Felicia had started staring at Ludwig's biceps and abdominals from the other side of the hotel's swimming pool, and had found that the interest (although not for her biceps, exactly) was mutual.
“He is jealous, sort of.” she explained.
Ludwig looked puzzled, said nothing, then blushed.
Felicia grinned.
“So, uhm, would you like to, ehm, swim? In the, ja, swimming pool?” the blond man asked.
It was true that Felicia was wearing a bikini under her shorts and top, but her belly decided to remind her with a cramp that today was no day for swimming.
“I don't think I will, sorry. Women' stuff.”
Again, Ludwig had to give it some thinking before understanding and blushing.
“Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know.” he played with the ice-cold beer he was sipping at. It meant that his idea of a date by the swimming pool was, eventually, a failure.
Felicia smiled. “It's fine, I didn't either. But you should go, if you want, I'll be watching. Very closely.”
Oh, she will. A date at the swimming pool was always worth it if it included a shirtless Ludwig.
For the third time, the man seemed to be considering her words carefully. Then he reached some kind of conclusion (or so his blushing cheeks suggested).
“Is this because – (and it took some effort to be said) – you find me attractive?” he spat out eventually.
Felicia blinked.
“Yes, I do find you attractive.”
The man brightened. “Very well! Because I find you attractive too. And when a boy and a girl find each other attractive, then there is... mutual attraction, between the two. Yeah.”
It looked like he had been studying that in theory and was just eager to prove it worked in reality, too. Felicia thought about the book she had seen him reading (what was the title again, “principles of mutual attraction”? Or something along that line). After all, it hadn't been a porn novel, but a manual. She would have probably preferred the former hypothesis to the latter, but it wouldn't have been too polite to point that out.
“And when there is mutual attraction what happens?” she asked, innocently.
Ludwig hesitated. He had read that there were many possible answers, mainly based on how the first date would end – and theirs had not ended yet. His brain started to analyse the data he possessed in search for an answer, and, in the meanwhile, she stared at the glowing light of the nearly setting sun.
“I think a walk to the beach would be a good idea. To see the sunset, you know.” she said eventually.
“Oh, sunset, right.”
According to the book, sunsets had a very high rate of success in conquering a woman's heart. Ludwig looked at her almost suspiciously.
“By any chance, did you read...”
“No.” she giggled “I'm not good at reading. But I'm good at guessing.”
And so she took his hand and led him towards the white sand of the beach.
Ludwig recalled vaguely that the combination of white sand beaches and sunsets in the sea lead to an almost one hundred percent chance of succeeding in winning someone's heart – so he smiled quietly and followed her sheepishly.
The only thing that made him a bit nervous was that white sand beaches and a full moon improved greatly the chances to win something else, other than the heart of a woman, but he hadn't had the time to read the following chapter where this was explained. Oh well. That might have been the time of some guessing from his side, as well.

Hahaha, awww, now if that isn't the cutest story! Ludwig is adorable and so is Felicia. I love how amused and quietly take-charge she is while he just sits there blushing and analyzing... Just trust her, Ludwig, she knows what she's doing xD

♥ Glad you liked it!
It's the first time I try to put Ludwig and Felicia together, I could only imagine her being a bit more decided and less clumsy than her male counterpart, while Ludwig is just awkward as ever XD
